WHY USE CONSULTANTS?
Downsizing and "rightsizing"
has reduced staffs in industries and businesses and there is a
reluctance to add full-time employees because of the uncertain
economic times ahead due to the world-wide fluctuation in markets
The manufacturing industry is the second largest user of consulting services and the demand for consultants has increased significantly during the past 15-20 years because:
Consultants are the human-resource gap-fillers who are disposable and don't require the added cost of benefits packages and severance packages.
In addition to augmenting staffs without adding permanent employees, consultants bring expert advice and needed change.
Consultants can be "on the job" more quickly than recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and hiring full-time employees. Therefore, consultants fill a gap for immediate need situations.
Consultants provide highly specialized knowledge and experience for use on a short-term, long-term, or project-specific basis.
Consultants provide expert training and education, and provide an extra hand during crisis or peak periods.
Consultants are outside contractors who are independent and free from corporate politics. Therefore, consultants are objective when providing advice and when evaluating client situations and problems.
